MileJar Privacy Policy

• No accounts: You never sign in or create a profile.
• No data selling: Your information is never shared or monetized.
• No advertising: Zero third-party trackers or ads.
• No central servers: We do not host or hold your driving records.

When you log a shift, MileJar captures your route, distance, time, and any expenses or receipt photos you add. All of this data is stored entirely:

1. Locally on your device.
2. In your personal iCloud account (via a private CloudKit database), ensuring your logs are secure even if you lose your phone.

Because this data lives in your Apple account, it is governed by Apple's iCloud terms. We have absolutely no access to it.

Location data is used for one strict purpose: accurately mapping your drives and valuing them at the IRS rate for the day you drove. Whether you manually start a shift or use the effortless Auto-Start feature, your location data never leaves your device or your personal iCloud.

Exception: If you submit an issue report to our support team and explicitly toggle on "Include location data," the route of that specific shift will be attached to your email to help us diagnose the problem.

MileJar checks your phone's motion classification (driving vs. walking) to ensure your mileage log remains highly accurate, and to detect when a drive begins if you have Auto-Start enabled. This signal is processed entirely on-device and is never transmitted to us.

If you reach out for support, the App generates an email from your personal Mail app to hello@milejar.com. This email contains your message, basic device and app information, and diagnostics. You have full visibility into the contents before sending, and nothing is transmitted without your explicit action.

• Anonymous Analytics: We use a privacy-first, cookieless provider to count basic app events (for example, app launches and onboarding completion). These are bare counts to ensure the app is functioning properly. No location data, financial data, or identifiable information is ever included, and the identifier is fully anonymized on your device.
• Subscriptions: MileJar Premium purchases are processed securely by Apple. We use a subscription management provider to verify your active subscription status, which only receives basic purchase state data from Apple, never your driving data.
• Service Providers: A small number of strictly vetted vendors keep MileJar operational (hosting, anonymous analytics, support). They are bound by contract, cannot identify you, and never receive your driving data because we do not have it to give.

The app checks a public, read-only table for the current IRS mileage rates approximately once a day. This is a secure download only; absolutely no user data is sent during this ping.

Because you own your data, you control its deletion. Deleting a shift in the app removes it from both your device and your iCloud instantly. Deleting the app and disabling its iCloud storage (Settings → Apple ID → iCloud) removes your records completely. If you have sent us support emails, you may request their deletion at any time by contacting us.

Visiting milejar.com sends standard, anonymous traffic data (IP address, browser details) to our hosting provider to serve and secure the site. We measure site traffic using cookieless, privacy-preserving analytics that count visits in aggregate without storing anything in your browser. We set no advertising or analytics cookies, which is why there is no tracking consent banner on our site.

We do not sell or share personal information as defined by the CCPA, GDPR, or equivalent privacy laws.

Section Blue LLC acts as the data controller strictly for the limited data you actively provide (support emails) and anonymized usage counts. We use it to answer you and to keep the app working, nothing else. Because your driving data never reaches us, the only information we could hold is support correspondence. You have the right to know, access, correct, restrict, and delete any personal information a business holds about you, to take a copy with you, to object to how it is used, and to complain to your data protection authority.
