MileJar Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 7, 2026
MileJar is made by Section Blue LLC. The short version: your driving data stays on your phone and in your own iCloud. We do not have access to or store your location data. There are no accounts, and we run no server that holds your records.
What the app records, and where it lives
When you run a shift, MileJar records your route, distance, times, and any expenses and receipt photos you add. All of it is stored:
- On your device, and
- In your personal iCloud account (your private CloudKit database), so a lost phone doesn't mean a lost mileage log.
Apple's iCloud terms govern that storage. We cannot read it: it belongs to your Apple account, not to us.
Location
Location is used for one purpose: measuring and mapping the shifts you choose to record. Recording works in the background so a shift isn't lost when your screen is off. Location data never leaves your device and your iCloud, with one exception you control: if you send us an issue report and switch on "Include location data," the route of that one shift is attached to your email so we can diagnose the problem.
Motion and fitness
MileJar reads your phone's motion classification (driving versus walking) to keep walking out of your mileage. That signal is processed on the device and never transmitted.
Issue reports
If you report an issue, the app composes an email from your own mail account to hello@milejar.com containing your message, app and device information, and diagnostics. You see exactly what's in it before you send it, and nothing is sent unless you send it.
Anonymous usage analytics
We use TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service, to count basic events: app launches, shifts started and completed, onboarding finished, reports shared, and issue reports sent. These are bare counts. Nothing about where you drove, how far, for how long, or any amounts is included, and the identifier involved is anonymized on your device before anything is sent. Subscriptions
MileJar Premium purchases are processed by Apple. We use Adapty to manage subscription status; Adapty receives purchase information from Apple (such as transaction and subscription state), not your driving data. Their privacy policy: adapty.io/privacy
The rate table
The app checks a public read-only table we publish (the current IRS mileage rates) about once a day. This is a download only; nothing about you is sent with it.
What we never do
- No accounts, no sign-in.
- No selling or sharing of personal data.
- No advertising, no trackers.
- No server of ours holding your records.
Deleting your data
Delete a shift in the app and it's gone from your device and your iCloud. Delete the app and turn off its iCloud storage (Settings → your name → iCloud) to remove everything. Emails you've sent us can be deleted on request.
Children
MileJar is a work tool for drivers and is not directed at children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, the effective date above changes with it.
